If you're looking for pure silk for knitting, you have other options besides the noble mulberry silk: Bourette silk is made from cocoon remnants, usually has a matte, often irregular thread structure, and is generally significantly more affordable than mulberry silk. Wild silk or tussah silk is obtained from the cocoons of wild silkworms in such a way that the caterpillars can escape before the necessary boiling of the cocoons.
