The curly, silky hair of the Angora goat
Mohair refers to the hair of the Angora goat. The younger the animal, the finer the hair, with the hair of the baby goat (kid) being the finest. This natural fiber is specifically the lightest textile fiber and very delicate. Therefore, Kid Mohair is usually blended with a stabilizing fiber such as silk, wool, or polyamide. The fiber is very warm, has hardly any pilling effect, and is wonderfully fluffy. Ideal for airy shawls and scarves. Interestingly, the largest mohair farms are in South Africa, which is also where we source most of this noble fluffy wool.
