Manos del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay is a certified Fair Trade project that provides income for women in rural areas. The undyed yarn is driven to the villages to the women of the cooperative and dyed there by hand in kettle sizes of a maximum of 3 kilos. Although the dye recipes are specified, the result varies depending on the dyer, region, and even the season, humidity, and sun intensity during drying, as all these factors influence the dyeing process. In rare cases, even the skeins from the same dye lot can look different. Therefore, when using these yarns, it is essential to purchase a sufficient quantity and, when switching from one skein to the next, alternate between the old and new skein for several rows. All Manos del Uruguay yarns are, of course, mulesing-free.
