A beautiful, GOTS-certified "Shetland-type" yarn for all lovers of multicolored knitting and wonderfully woolly sweaters, jackets, throws, and accessories. Why is the yarn called "Shetland-type" and not Shetland wool? The yarn doesn't come from the Shetland Islands, as there are currently no GOTS-certified farms there. However, our organic Shetland looks the same, has the same properties, and is even a bit softer than conventional Shetland wool. And with over 70 colors, we offer a beautiful selection for typical Fair Isle patterns.
The boss bravely washed her knitted piece in the washing machine on the wool cycle and is thrilled. To see if your machine is gentle enough, it's best to test it with a gauge swatch. Don't forget to measure beforehand!
The raw wool for our organic Shetland sheep comes from mulesing-free farms in South America; it is spun and dyed in Turkey.
