The yarn is made from 100% RAS-certified alpaca wool (CU 890756). Products certified according to the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) contain alpaca wool fibers from farms that are independently certified according to animal welfare and land management standards.
Svala by BC Garn – light, airy, and surprisingly versatile! Originally intended as a complementary yarn, Svala also looks fantastic on its own. A special spinning process creates a fluffy texture from the soft alpaca fibers (21–23 microns) – quite unlike 100% alpaca wool! The yarn is airy and light, yet retains its shape and gives knitted pieces a beautiful structure, naturally with the familiar softness of baby alpaca.
Whether used single, double, or as a complementary yarn – we have extensively tested Svala and are thrilled! The yarn is spun and dyed in Peru, where the alpaca fibers also originate.
