Our Plain Cashmere is a woolen spun yarn, and with 16.5 microns, it is one of the highest quality cashmere yarns in the industry. It originates from the high-altitude regions of Mongolia. Spinning and dyeing are done in Italy.
Cashmere is one of the softest, finest fibers in the world: cashmere hairs have a fiber fineness of 15 - 19 microns - the lower the micron count, i.e., the thinner the individual fiber, the softer it is.

Unlike the rather compact worsted yarns, woolen spun yarns are characterized by being airy and voluminous, meaning they are very light and productive. Experienced knitters swear by woolen spun yarns because they create a beautiful, slightly blurred stitch definition and are also wonderfully suited for multi-color knitting.

The most exclusive fashion labels in the world source the cashmere yarn for their knitwear from our Italian supplier. The yarn is almost unsurpassed in softness. We were particularly impressed by the color palette with its slightly melange, muted variations.

There is one small challenge with this rarity: Since the yarn is primarily produced for machine knitting in the fashion industry, it is delivered to us lightly waxed on cones. We wind the precious material onto skeins and then wash them very carefully. Nevertheless, a certain amount of fat remains in the yarn, so at first glance, it still looks a bit unassuming and has not yet fully developed its full fluffiness. We recommend washing the finished knitted item on a wool wash cycle at a maximum of 30°C and then tumble drying it for 30 minutes at 80°C. What emerges is a fluffy yet pill-free miracle!
