Soft, softer, llama wool! Kremke Soul Wool's thick wool is 100% llama and incredibly soft. It's also surprisingly resistant to pilling: the curly, short fibers that cause pilling are sorted out before spinning. Our Llama Soft is also called "Cashmere of the Andes" because, at 22 microns, it is truly as soft as cashmere. A wonderfully soft wool for scarves, hats, or sweaters! And it's also super warm:
According to a study by the Owari Textile Technology Center in Japan, which compared alpaca wool with llama wool, the inner diameter of the llama fiber is larger than that of alpaca fiber, which creates even greater thermal insulation. It doesn't get warmer than Llama Soft!
Like alpacas, llamas belong to the camelid family, but they are rarer. They live in the wild in the Andes and are only gathered for shearing. Shearing is done gently and without harming the animals.
