BC Garn Babyalapaca 10/2 is cuddly soft, wonderfully warm, and thanks to its fantastic range of colors, always a joy to knit with. Baby alpaca, at 22 to 24 microns, is the second finest fiber category of alpaca wool. Because of its delicate down, it is ideal for anything that should be light yet warm, such as knitting feather-light sweaters or fine shawls and scarves.
Since alpaca yarn stretches slightly after washing, it's important to wash the gauge swatch before measuring! This is the only way to get a realistic gauge swatch, and it also allows the yarn to really bloom and unfold its true beauty.
The 10/2 refers to the running length. 10 means that the yarn has 10 meters of run per gram, i.e., 1000m/100g. The /2 means that it is doubled, so the thread is essentially folded and therefore twice as heavy, meaning it now has only 5m/1g, i.e., 500m/100g, or 250m/50g.
