Wool from Germany, regionally produced and dyed with plant dyes – that is Ylva. This wool is the origin of Hey Mama Wolf and was there from the beginning as Schafwolle No. 03. We have changed the name, but the quality remains the same.
The raw wool is collected from small sheep farms in northern and eastern Germany and dyed with plant dyes in Hesse. The dye works thoroughly tests the plant dyes for wash and lightfastness. This way, we can be sure that the lovingly selected and typical Hey Mama Wolf colors will bring joy for a long time.
With Ylva, we actively support the small German sheep farms, which often have difficulties selling their wool at a fair price. German wool is rustic and long-lasting, without being particularly rough. For knitting sweaters, jackets, or a large shawl, Ylva can do it all. It is also excellently suited for knitting textured or brioche patterns or for multi-color knitting.
Pro tip: Always wash the swatch before evaluating it. Ylva truly blooms after washing and becomes wonderfully supple!
