Soft, softer, llama wool! This chunky wool from Kremke Soul Wool is made from 100% llama and is truly incredibly soft. It is also surprisingly resistant to pilling: The curly, short fibers that cause pilling are sorted out before spinning. Our Llama Soft is also called the "Cashmere of the Andes," as it is truly comparably soft to cashmere wool at 22 microns. A wonderfully soft wool for scarves, hats, or sweaters! According to a study by the Owari Textile Technology Center in Japan, which compared alpaca wool with llama wool, the inner diameter of the llama fiber is larger than that of the alpaca fiber, which creates even greater thermal insulation. It doesn't get warmer than Llama Soft!
Like alpacas, llamas belong to the camelid family, but they are rarer. They live in the wild in the Andes and are only rounded up for shearing. Shearing is done gently and without harming the animals.
